Ms. Hall has had over 20 years of experience playing violin and started playing professionally at the age of twelve. She lead the Highland Square Chamber Orchestra for five years, performed the national anthem at Cleveland Indians games as well as dozens of other sporting events. She has done three European tours with the International Youth Symphony Orchestra. Other orchestras she has been a part of include the Akron Youth Symphony, University of Akron Symphony Orchestra, Kent State Symphony, Chagrin Falls Studio Orchestra, and the True North Chamber Orchestra. Currently, she is the solo violinist for Hot Club of Akron playing jazz, blues, and swing music. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from the University of Akron in 2016. She has taught at Brecksville Music Studio since 2014 and is very passionate about passing on all kinds of musical knowledge to the next generation.
As a native of North East Ohio, Thomas Havran has studied music at various institutions that include Tri-C, Baldwin Wallace University, Cleveland State University, and the Cleveland Institute of Music. He is primarily a guitarist but also has experience studying and performing piano, voice, and percussion. Although his background is in jazz and classical music, he enjoys teaching all styles to all ages and abilities. After obtaining a bachelor’s degree from Cleveland State, Thomas went on to pursue a master’s degree in education at Hawaii Pacific University. In Hawaii, he had learned traditional ways of life, music, and dance. He also had the opportunity to teach at various elementary and middle schools, perform with instrumental and vocal ensembles, and direct the university band. Thomas is now working towards completion of a master’s degree in music composition as he teaches for local music schools in the Cleveland area.
Guitarist and composer Mike Barna received his Bachelor of Music from Berklee College of Music and his Master of Music from Cleveland State University. With over twenty years of teaching experience he teaches students of all ages in styles including rock, pop, blues, jazz, classical, traditional and folk as well as composition, songwriting and improvisation. His teaching emphasizes the importance of music fundamentals including knowledge of notes (scales and chords), rhythm, reading, theory and ear training in addition to technique. At the same time, an individual approach is taken to meet the interests and needs of each student. He has recorded and performed with various groups in genres including acoustic, rock, jazz-fusion, and avant-garde/experimental music.
Chris Russo has been playing drums since the age of 8. First instructed by my uncle and later went on to play in the high school marching band, concert band and orchestra. Upon graduating, he relocated to Los Angeles and studied at the Musicians Institute. While in Los Angeles, he played in numerous bands, recorded at various recording studios and worked as an engineer and manager at one of those recording studios. He has toured throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe. He continues to perform live and occasionally record. He has been teaching private lessons since 2005.
